Water:
Water is an extremely appropriate subject matter not only because it is such an integral element in our lives, but because by its nature in is very abstract. It can naturally be found in 3 forms, liquid, solid, and gas and within each of these representations if takes on a multitude of appearances. Interestingly while we see and use it everyday we do not often really look at it except when in the context of art.
Bio:
I am a professional freelance photographer with over 13 years experience.
I have lived and worked in Alberta, British Columbia and Nova Scotia and currently call Squamish home. Situated on Howe Sound, halfway between Vancouver and the resort of Whistler, Squamish is an ideal location for photography in the lower mainland, Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and Whistler.
I provide assignment and stock photography for a wide range of clients in North America and world wide.
I Specialize in Resort Photography, capturing properties, food, activities, and lifestyle in stunning promotional imagery. Two main areas or expertise include golf and architectural imagery. While I have a commercial and portfolio site, I hope to use this blog to highlight personal work as well as some of the latest projects and publications featuring my images.
Artist Statement:
"As a commercial photographer, I find myself using many tools of photography (filters, lenses, photoshop, etc) to 'manipulate' images so that they look appealing but and with the goal of keeping production efforts relatively transparent. Photography is often presented as a depiction of what the human eye sees. In reality, this is rarely true.
With my personal work, i explore the idea of creating images that show subject manner in a way or context that the human eye would not necessarily be able to render. In using the same production tools I use commercially, I like to manipulate images to present a unique view - one that someone might not necessarily see if they were standing beside me when i took the photograph.
